Cardi B isn’t afraid to ask for what’s hers. The 25-year-old rapper posted on Instagram Tuesday, Jan. 2 a curious box of Lucky Charms Frosted Flakes. According to her caption, Cardi thinks the folks at Kellogg’s caught wind of her “Bodak Yellow” lyric and used it as inspiration for the breakfast treat.
“Kellogg’s ain’t low ???,” she wrote. “They Hurd [sic] ‘BODAK YELLOW’ and was like ????????ROLLIE GOT CHARMS LOOK LIKE FROSTED FLAKES ?!!! I think we have something right here !!!??? I want 2 percent of sales ???????”
The lyric in question goes, “I go to dinner and steak, only the real can relate/I used to live in the P’s, now it’s a crib with a gate/Rollie got charms, look like Frosted Flakes.”
The cereal is a mash-up of the General Mills cereal with the leprechaun mascot and GM’s take on the Kellogg’s brand fronted by Tony the Tiger.
Since Frosted Flakes hasn’t been trademarked, General Mills is able to create their own version of the cereal while using the name, according to Thrillist.

Given her emoji use, Cardi likely isn’t serious. And news of the mash up has been out since at least last year. But a food brand using a pop culture reference for its own gain isn’t new.
In 2014, Denny’s tweeted the phrase, “on fleek” which was coined by viral sensation Peaches Monroee. Fellow breakfast restaurant IHOP also tweeted the phrase about their pancakes, yet Monroee did not get compensation from either eatery for the term.
