Fans Scold Joseline Hernandez for Seemingly Choosing Sides In Anthony Josua Fighting Match: ‘Are You Black or Latino’

It seems former “Love and Hip Hop: Atlanta” star Joseline Hernandez is currently facing backlash.

The self-proclaimed “Puerto Rican Princess” was one of thousands of viewers who witnessed the widely talked about boxing match between Anthony Joshua and Andy Ruiz on June 1. Joshua, a British boxer of Nigerian descent, went into the huge favorite going into the bout as the undefeated IBF, WBA, and WBO heavyweight champion. The lowly regarded and noticeably flabby Ruiz, a Mexican-American boxer, would score one of the biggest upsets in boxing history by knocking down Joshua several times before winning by technical knockout in the seventh round.

Earlier this week, Hernandez, who is of Puerto Rican descent, made it clear that she rooted for Ruiz by posting a photo of Joshua on the boxing ring floor while the Mexican fighter hovered over him.

“One time for my Chico’s ?????? #cholo,” the reality star wrote in her Instagram caption.

Her post was instantly met with controversy.

“So you post it cuz he’s Latino ?.”

“Skin color don’t matter Queen ??‍ so are you black or latino?”

“You’re a Black woman that speaks Spanish stop acting like them yo people ?.”

“? Why u ain’t have a bby by a chico ?why it took a black man to save u from stripping n spruce yo life up.”

Others fans swooped to Hernandez’s defense.

“She’s Afro latino ? she can cheer for who she want.”

“Man ya’ll reaching she gotta black child she not racist ?.”

Hernandez has yet to respond to critics. She told Huffington Post during a 2017 interview that she’s often unfazed by the criticism she receives in general and that people are entitled to their own opinions.

“Everybody’s able to say whatever they want, feel however they feel, and it’s not really a big deal to me because if I choose to live my life in front of the media then I need to take what they give,” she said.

The reality star is focusing on what’s best for her 2-year-old daugher Bonnie Bella while seemingly trying to avoid the drama.

“You know, I think when you become a mother your whole life changes because now you have to care for another person,” she said. “I think that becoming a mother makes you focus so much more in your business.”
