Miles Brockman Richie, Lionel Richie‘s son, spent some time in London recently, and his trip was probably more eventful than he planned.
According to TMZ, Miles, who’s a model, was leaving London’s Heathrow Airport over the weekend when he claimed to have a bomb in his bag.
A witness said that Miles wasn’t allowed to get on his scheduled flight, so in retaliation he made the phony bomb threat. A security guard tried to intervene at that point, but the 24-year-old slugged him, and that’s when police arrived.
Afterward, Miles was given what’s called a caution, which in England is the same as receiving a warning, according to gov.uk. One has to admit that he or she committed the offense, and if they don’t that person can be charged and arrested on the spot. The caution also remains on one’s record and is only used for low-level crimes.
After Miles accepted the caution, he was released and allowed to leave.
“On Saturday, 19 January, a 24-year-old man accepted a caution for communicating false information causing a bomb hoax and battery following an incident at Heathrow Terminal 5 earlier that morning,” said the Metropolitan police in a statement.
After news got out about Miles’ arrest, a lot of folks blasted him on social media and claimed he’s just a spoiled rich kid who didn’t get his way.
“Spoiled little brat. Your father must be ashamed,” one person wrote.
Other people focused on the alleged bomb threat and told Miles that he should’ve known better.
“You are a true moron,” someone wrote. “I wish they would have put you in jail for claiming to have a bomb. If that was L.A. or Chicago airports those police would have probably shot your dumb ass.”
