Mariah Carey‘s former assistant Lianna Azarian hit back in a major way after the singer filed a lawsuit and accused her of blackmail.
Azarian, who worked for Carey from 2015 to 2017, filed a countersuit on Jan. 16 in Los Angeles in which she alleged that Carey’s assistant Stella Bulochnikov engaged in abusive behavior — including slapping her buttocks and breasts, wrestling her to the ground and urinating on her.
Other accusations include “placing objects under her breasts such as iPhones, television remote controls and utensils,” plus, Azarian claimed Carey stood by and did nothing to stop it. The former assistant also stated that Bulochnikov called her the n-word and a “f—ing Armenian whore” at one point. Azarian is of Armenian, not African, descent.
The “Dreamlover” vocalist was also accused of mistreatment, and Azarian said she was physically, physiologically and emotionally abusive.
In Carey’s suit, she claimed that her former assistant secretly recorded “intimate” footage that could damage her career and embarrass her personally, then demanded $8 million not to share it. The pop star also alleged that Azarian bought pricey personal items with her credit card and used her name to get deep discounts on things.
On top of that, the “Glitter” star claimed Azarian would constantly ask her for money and when it wasn’t handed over, she’d steal it. The former assistant’s beginning salary was $250,000 a year, but she received $327,000 after alleged complaints about overtime.
But Azarian’s lawyer Mark Quigley said all of the allegations are “baseless” and they’re a strategy to “attack my client’s character and deflect attention away from a workplace harassment and wrongful termination lawsuit.” Quigley also said his client was fired despite doing everything that was demanded of her.
