A Buffalo police officer is the focus of a new viral video, but this time, it’s for all the right reasons.
Officer Patrick McDonald responded to a noise nuisance call about some kids playing football in the street, but rather than breaking up the game, he pulled up in his car and asked, “Where we lining up?”
At one point in the videos of the game, he makes a great catch and jokes, “Do you guys want me to file a police report, because you just got robbed?”
The quarterback in the video, Tremail Woolford, shared the videos along with the hashtag #NotAllCopsAreBadIGuess.
The videos have been shared over 1,000 times, with Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown calling it “Community Policing at its best” in a Facebook post.

“I applaud Officer Patrick McDonald for turning a nuisance call into a positive experience for the community,” Brown wrote. “I am proud that he is on the force & thank him for setting an example of why we truly are The City of Good Neighbors.”
McDonald told WGRZ-TV afterwards that he was only trying to bond with the people in the community he is sworn to protect and that he wasn’t trying to do anything for attention.
“It helps break down the barrier, this ‘us versus them’ barrier,” McDonald said. “And, at the same time, it shows that police officers empathize with the general public, and that we have a lot of common interests, like playing football.”
