Nicki Minaj fans are in for a special treat. The “Chun Li” rapper is about to allow us all to explore the making of her 2018 album “Queen” when the forthcoming Apple Music documentary of the same drops.
Minaj recently shared clips from the project on Instagram, one of which includes a frank and surprising conversation about two abusive relationships from her past.
The film was made during the recording process of the album, and in the clips, a tearful Minaj recalls childhood memories of having to protect her mother from violence in her parent’s troubled marriage.
“I remember when my mother would let my father be violent with her,” she says. “And she always brings up this story, as a little girl I would stand in front of my mother and go like this… [holding her arms out].”

“Maybe some people would describe me as abrasive or bitchy or whatever, because I vowed from that age no man would ever abuse me, call me out my name, treat me like that, and all of a sudden that was my life,” she added.
As noted by Complex, in the second clip, Minaj talks about how a bad relationship left her with low self-esteem and as a result, she struggled with her creativity.
“Who was I gonna inspire when I had nothing in me to give? I let one human being make me so low that I didn’t even remember who I was,” says Minaj. “I was scared to get in the studio because I didn’t believe in myself.”
Nicki didn’t name-drop her ex-abuser, but her former lover Meek Mill had fun sending social media off with wild speculation when he posted a now deleted image about narcissistic partners who use you.
In the post, Meek wrote: “When cornered, they’ll lash out by claiming that THEY are the real victim. Their story will detail your drinking problem, depression, jealousy, low self-esteem, financial woes, etc., thereby gaining the sympathy of their fan club. Meanwhile, YOU will be isolated & confused while this aggressive campaign transpires. And when you emerge, the trap will have been set.”
Wow!
One commenter said: “All the man did was post 1 thing on his page and everybody is assuming that it has something to do with nicki. But why tho? I dont get it this man clearly has a whole life outside of what happened with him and nicki not everything is about her for all we know he could be talking about his new chick”

I guess we’ll never really know the truth.
There is not set release date set as of yet for the “Queen” documentary.
