Thousands of people gathered for the National Prayer Breakfast, usually a nonpartisan and solemn event, only to find that President Donald Trump had turned his speech into a roast of his critics, including Arnold Schwarzenegger, who took over on The Apprentice.

In his speech, which was addressed to a crowd that included foreign leaders, Trump bragged about being “tough” on other countries, referring to recent combative calls he has had with countries that are typically US allies, such as Mexico and Australia.

“The world is in trouble and we’re going to straighten it out, okay? That’s what I do,” Trump said. “When you hear about the tough phone calls I’m having don’t worry about it, just don’t worry about it. They’re tough. We have to be tough, it’s time we’re going to be a little tough, folks. We’re taken advantage of by every nation in the world virtually. It’s not going to happen anymore.”

Trump also defended his controversial immigration and travel ban, promising an ideological test for those entering the country.

“We will not allow a beachhead of intolerance to spread in our nation,” he said. “In the coming days we will develop a system to help ensure that those coming into our country fully embrace our values of religious and personal liberty. … We want people to come into our nation but we want people to love us and to love our values, not to hate us and hate our values.”

But beyond policy defense, the president was sure to show his disdain for his replacement on “The Apprentice,” asking his audience to “pray” for the ratings on the show.

“They hired a big big movie star Arnold Schwarzenegger to take my place, and we know how that turned out. The ratings went right down the tubes, it’s been a total disaster, and Mark will never, ever bet against Trump again, and I want to just pray for Arnold if we can for those ratings,” he said.

Schwarzenegger was quick to respond, saying, “Hey Donald, I have a great idea. Why don’t we switch jobs? You take over TV, because you’re such an expert in ratings, and then I take over your job and then people can finally sleep comfortably again.”
