On Friday Soulja Boy aka DeAndre Cortez Way was arrested by the Ventura County Sheriffs Office in Los Angeles due to weapons violation just hours before he was slated to perform at the halftime show at a Clippers game.
The rapper was taken into police custody on Friday morning as a result of law enforcement seizing ammo found at his residence as part of a surprise search last month.
“During that search warrant, there was ammunition located, which was a violation of his probation terms,” Ventura County Sheriff Capt. Eric Hatlee told the New York Daily News on Friday.

According to the New York Daily News, Soulja Boy has been banned from owning a firearm and ammo because of a 2014 conviction for carrying a loaded gun in a car. His probation was extended in 2016 after officers found an illegal Mini Draco AR-I5 assault rifle and Glock 21 handgun inside his Studio City house during a probation raid.
Released hours later, Soulja Boy shared with his fans on social media that he had “just got out of jail,” and he definitely did not forget to advertise his upcoming halftime performance later that night.

Soulja Boy has definitely changed since his 2007 hit “Crank That” made him a national sensation, and the former Love and Hip Hop Hollywood reality star and Grammy nominee has a knack for making headlines for all the wrong reasons. Last month a former girlfriend reported being tied up and assaulted by him but he claims she fabricated the story. In 2016, he even threatened Atlanta rapper, Skrill Dilly, by brandishing a gun in a video as the two disputed over Soulja Boy’s now ex-and former Love and Hip Hop co-star, model Nia Riley. He would later deny the gun was real.
