A 13-year-old Texas girl was found dead after being kidnapped, and police believe that her death and kidnapping was done in retaliation for a drug theft involving one of her relatives.
On Sunday, the body of young Shavon Le’Feye Randle was discovered at an East Oak Cliff home. Also dead in the home was 19-year-old Michael Titus, who police had named as a person of interest in her disappearance.
According to the Dallas Morning News, two days before Shavon was kidnapped on Wednesday, one of her relatives, Ledoris Randle‘s boyfriend, Kendall Perkins, stole drugs from Darius Fields and Devontae Owens. That day, Ledoris Randle received a call from a man saying that Shavon was being held against her will and promising to kill Shavon if Randle alerted the authorities. The man demanded that the drugs be returned to him as ransom.
A police affidavit stated that a man later identified as Owen had told an FBI informant that he planned to kidnap Shavon to get the drugs back. Police named Fields, Owens, Titus and a fourth suspect, Laporshya Polley, as persons of interest in the case.
Fields and Polley were arrested Thursday at a hotel room. Polley was charged with tampering with evidence and drug possession when he was trying to flush marijuana down the toilet during the raid. Fields was charged with drug possession and unlawful possession of a firearm. Owens and Laquon Wilkerson were arrested on Saturday. Owens was hit with an aggravated kidnapping charge, and Wilkerson was charged with aggravated kidnapping for ransom.
