” THE WIRE: Proud to Support First Annual ‘Christmas on Church St.’ in Paramore.”Orlando, FL ( December 15, 2020) — This year has dramatically changed how the work of community engagement, and public service, is done. Since March, the staff and management of WHPB-FM remain steadfastly committed to being part of the solution to this unprecedented crisis, rather than contributing to it. However, even as the on-going struggle with COVID-19 continues into next year, forcing us to continue to adapt and adjust, nothing will stop us from serving our community. This commitment is evident in the consistency of our actions throughout this challenging time, from our collaboration with a community group distributing free food to some of the most adversely impacted members of our community, from our studio location parking lot; to our team’s decision to indefinitely postpone the inaugural Heart & Soul Music Festival, until local authorities express that we have a better grasp on containing the COVID-19 Coronavirus.
We share these notes to reiterate just how serious the threat of this global crisis continues to be, and to urge vigilance in the face of it. Our pledge is to ensure that all events, activities, and efforts associated with THE WIRE, will incorporate preventative measures to protect the health of all parties involved and the surrounding neighborhood.
As ‘The Community Station’ in Orlando, THE WIRE is proud to lend our support to the organizers of the first annual “Christmas on Church St.”, hosted by former Jacksonville Jaguar Mike Sims-Walker.
